Mining company Minera Aguilar and the Argentinean dictatorship

19 December 2012 ECCHR has presented today an amicus curiae brief in the case of “Bazán, Avelino and others” to the Federal Court No. 2 of Jujuy, located in the northwestern part of Argentina. In this case, crimes committed during the last military dictatorship (1976-1983) against 27 workers of the mining company Minera Aguilar S.A. are being investigated. ECCHR is requesting the Court to investigate the complicity of the company in these crimes.

The case against Argentinean sugar company Ledesma

15 May 2012 As part of investigations into the complicity of the sugar company Ledesma in crimes of the military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983), the Federal Court of Jujuy has summoned two businessmen for questioning. In April 2011, ECCHR presented an amicus curiae in several cases concerning Ledesma, about their corporate complicity in human rights violations.

US Court Accepts Compensation Claim Filed Against Daimler Chrysler for Argentinean Human Rights Abuses

On 18 May 2011 a US appeals court (the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit in Pasadena) ruled that courts in San Francisco are competent to judge compensation claims filed against DaimlerChrysler AG by the relatives of Argentinean trade unionists. The corporation, which is charged with assisting crimes against humanity including murder and forced disappearance, must now prepare itself for trial.
